Turn Your Phone Red For Night Viewing

Updated: Sep 20, 2022

I was working on the Better Sleep course and one of the suggestions was to put your phone on night mode or turn your screen red like astronomers do if you have an iPhone. I don’t have an iPhone anymore but this would come in very handy not just for sleep but also for when we do stargazing or other outdoor night events.

Katja and Ryn provided the link below for steps on how to turn your iPhone screen red.

How to turn your iPhone screen red for astronomy – BBC Sky at Night Magazine How to turn your iPhone screen red for astronomy – BBC Sky at Night Magazine

I clicked the link, read through the instructions, and thought “I’m sure Droid does this too”. It does! To do so follow the steps below.

  1. Find & Open Settings

  2. Select Accessibility

  3. Select Visibility enhancements

  4. Select Add color filter

  5. Slide Add color filter shortcut to on

  6. Slide Opacity to 60% (max)

  7. Select red at bottom of the screen

Now you will see a little man in the bottom corner of your screen, tap him and your screen will turn red, tap him again and it will go back to normal.
