Wow! What a storm

Wow, what a storm we had Tuesday. I had been posting about our NOLA trip but that storm stopped all that. It took out a 30-50 foot water oak and laid it across our driveway. No one was hurt and the only damage was to the tree itself, another dead tree that caught it, and one of the edge bricks.

Wednesday morning our neighbor came down with his huge John Deer green machine and pushed it out of the driveway so we could at least get off the property if needed. From there we started getting "implements of destruction" together to clean up what we could.

When I got out there and realized how big of a mess it was, I called Nana and asked if she would come with her chainsaw and woodchipper to help. We have a chainsaw too but I figure two or more would make this go quicker.

We started pulling some of the vines and smaller stuff away and piling it up into a burn pile. When Nana got here, we got serious about working. Cutting and pulling as much stuff out of the main part of the yard as we could. This took all four of us the rest of the day.

The next morning we were feeling the work we did the day before but we had to get the other side cleaned up. Out we headed and spent the rest of the day cleaning up the other side. We are now left with just the parts that are too large for our chainsaw. Not sure what we are going to do with it but we will figure it out.
